The recognition of the utility of mobile phones in recording the malfeasance of the police might spin over to the repeal of the nonsensical ban on taking photgraphs of the police. They are clearly using this routinely in an officious way both to annoy innocent members of the public and tourists but also to hide occasional misdemeanours such a sparking on double yellow lines, eating in the car etc as well as, in the instant cases, trying to prevent the exposure of their behviour when dealing with innocent memebrs of the public caught up in demonstrations.

Perhaps the government might just for once stop indulging police wishes and remember that both they and the police are the servants of the public and not the masters.
