As someone who is about to do her Reiki Level ll, I was quite surpirsed to discover that I could go from having never done reiki before to qualifying as a Reiki Practioner…all in the space of a weekend for a few hundred pounds. Complementary Medicine is just that – meant to be used alongside mainstream medicine in a complementary manner. It is not there to replace it and most discerning practitioners would agree. However, I do think that a regulation could be helpful. Although it may be better to regulate unscrupulous practitioners rather than the therapy itself.

I advocate a registration fee, so this scheme might exclude some whose deposit is inadequate. A similar method might be part of the astrologers’ scheme, but lucre definitely a part of that I fear.

The Lord God created the seven days. He ordained that each day must have a partner. Sunday with Monday, Tuesday with Wednesday, Thursday with Friday. Saturday started to weep. “Why are you crying”? God asked. “Every day has a partner but me”. God said “ISRAEL IS YOUR PARTNER”.

And it so happened that Rabbi Yehudah was asked by a boy – But why must we observe Sabbath? Rabbi Yehudah said “There was once a Jew called Joseph, he observed Sabbath, his very rich neighbour didn’t. He believed in astrology. One day the greatest astrologer in the land told him ‘You must give half your wealth to your neighbour Joseph! If not he will have all your wealth!’

To avoid this, the wealthy man sold everything and bought a beautiful diamond and had it stitched into his turban.

‘Now Joseph can’t have all my wealth.’

One day at sea his hat was blown off and a fish swallowed the diamond. Joseph bought the fish at market for sabbath supper.
